After a stop in Schoenbrunn (short walk in the park and viewing of the palace from the outside) we proceed to the Vienna Woods.

Kahlenberg and Grinzing. In the Vienna Woods (the green heart of Vienna) we will admire  the famous Otto Wagner Villa (renovated and inhabited by the painter Ernst Fuchs) and the "Höhenstraße" (the road with the most breathtaking views of the city), the two local peaks Kahlenberg and Cobenzl and the romantic wine village of Grinzing where we will take our break in one of the numerous wine taverns or Heurigen. Afterwards we return to the Hofburg Palace (in the centre) and continue our tour on foot.

empress sisiThe afternoon. This walk is unforgettable. We will admire the historic centre of Vienna including the most famous sights and the most elegant shopping streets. We start with  a visit to the Hofburg complex which extends to over 240,000 m2, consists of 18 wings, 19 courtyards and 2,600 rooms in which nearly 5,000 people still work and live today. You will see: the Swiss Wing (which houses the Imperial Treasury where the regalia of the Holy Roman Empire and the Austrian Empire are kept), the Leopoldin Wing (where the office of the Austrian Federal President is housed), the Stallburg (home of the famous Lipizzan stallions), the Spanish Riding School, the Austrian National Library and St. Augustine's Church (where the Habsburgs used to get married).

Kohlmarkt. Graben. Kaertnerstraße.Then we stroll through shopping streets such as the Kohlmarkt, Graben (with the Trinity Column – one of the most beautiful baroque monuments) and Kärtnerstraße. These are the most expensive streets in Vienna with magnificent buildings and elegant shops. Here we also find the famous patisserie Demel (it was formerly the official bakery to the emperor).

St. Stephen's Cathedral, Imperial Crypt, Albertina. St. Stephen's Cathedral is the landmark of Vienna (a unique construction in Romanesque and Gothic style). The Imperial Crypt was previously the principal place of entombment for members of the Habsburg dynasty in the middle of the city centre. The Albertina was once the palace of Maria Theresa’s favourite daughter and is now an art museum. It houses one of the largest and most important graphic collections in the world. (the most important masterpiece: "Young Hare" by Albrecht Duerer).

Vienna State Opera and Hotel Sacher. Very close by is the State Opera (Staatsoper) and the prestigious Hotel Sacher (where you can taste and buy the original Sacher Torte – the most famous cake in the world for more than 175 years).
